Hannah Waddingham is an award-winning English actress, singer and TV presence, having appeared in smash-hit shows such as Ted Lasso, Benidorm, Game of Thrones and Sex Education. With multiple honours and nominations for her incredible performances, Hannah is a fantastic entertainer and awards host, gaining further credibility after co-hosting the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Surrounded by music growing up, Hannah graduated from the Academy of Live and Recording Arts and began her career as a stage actress. She made her West End debut in 1998, going on to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton’s The Beautiful Game. Hannah continued in stage theatre, appearing on Broadway and landing multiple significant roles, including the Witch in Into the Woods and the Wicked Witch of the West. In 2011, she broke into television, appearing in the BBC’s Not Going Out before appearing in the film Les Misérables and ITV’s Benidorm. Hannah then starred in Game of Thrones as Septa Unella before taking on a recurring role in Netflix’s Sex Education as Sophia Marchetti. Since 2020, she has featured in Ted Lasso as Rebecca Welton, using her own singing acumen in a number of episodes. Hannah has also appeared in Hocus Pocus 2, Tom Jones, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and Fall Guy, where she worked alongside Hollywood superstars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. In 2023, she co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool with Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina and Graham Norton, as well as the Laurence Olivier Awards twice.
Throughout her incredible career, Hannah has received numerous accolades and nominations for both her on-stage and on-screen roles. The recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award, two Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, she has received nominations for two Golden Globes, two BAFTA TV Awards, and three Laurence Olivier Awards. In 2023, she released her debut album, Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas.
