Eddie Hearn is one of the most influential and forward-thinking figures in global sports promotion. As Chairman of Matchroom Sport and a leader in the world of boxing, darts, snooker and pool, Eddie is celebrated for revolutionising the way combat sports are marketed, consumed and experienced around the globe. Known for his sharp business acumen, charismatic presence, and ability to deliver record-breaking events, Eddie is a captivating individual who blends strategic insight with stories from the heart of elite sport. His greatest career milestone came in 2018 when he negotiated boxing’s first-ever $1 billion broadcast deal with DAZN, transforming the industry’s digital future.
Eddie’s path to the top wasn’t linear. After leaving Brentwood School without the grades to progress, he attended Havering College, where his father Barry Hearn incentivised him with money for each strong A-level result. From there, Eddie began working in golf management before shifting into poker promotion, broadcasting events through major UK platforms. A turning point came in 2010 when he met Audley Harrison at a poker game - a chance encounter that led to the launch of Matchroom Boxing. That moment marked the beginning of Eddie’s journey into boxing promotion, quickly carving a name for himself in a traditionally closed industry.
Since then, Eddie has delivered some of the sport’s most iconic events. He promoted the Carl Froch vs George Groves II bout in 2014 at Wembley Stadium, with 80,000 fans in attendance. In 2017, he staged Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko, drawing a record 90,000 fans to the same venue. He then promoted the Canelo Álvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders fight in Texas in 2021, which broke the indoor attendance record for U.S. boxing. That same year, Eddie became Chairman of the Matchroom Group, succeeding his father and expanding the company’s reach into emerging sports markets worldwide. With the move of Matchroom’s full UK boxing schedule to DAZN, Eddie spearheaded a digital-first shift for the sport, ending a decades-long partnership with Sky Sports.
As a keynote speaker, Eddie delivers more than entertainment – he offers hard-won business lessons in leadership, brand building, global marketing, and innovation in sport. He’s a passionate advocate for grassroots sport, women in boxing, and the evolving future of sports broadcasting. His sessions resonate across corporate, media and sporting audiences, leaving a lasting impact through a mix of humour, honesty, and world-class expertise. Eddie Hearn’s unique journey from modest academic beginnings to industry dominance makes him a truly inspirational speaker for any event.
