Renowned for her talents as a track and field athlete, one of Denise’s greatest achievements was when she claimed Gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Other prominent victories of Denise’s include winning Gold at the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games and being the European Heptathlon Champion in 1998. She has also achieved Silver at the World Championships, in 1997 and 1999, along with claiming a Gold medal at the European Cup in 1995 and a Silver medal at the European Cup in 2003. With such titles to her name, Denise is widely regarded as one of the greatest female multi-eventers in Britain.
Retiring from athletics, Denise never truly left the great sporting world behind, going on to become an Athletics Pundit for the BBC. Having covered countless top sporting events, such as the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, Denise uses her expertise as a former athlete to help audiences understand the performance of the athletes they are watching on screen. In addition to sports punditry, Denise has also been the Co-Host of Right on the Money and the Presenter of Secret Britain. She has also been a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2004, along with performing on the 2016 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
