One of the finest athletes swimming has to offer, Adam Peaty has reignited Britain’s status in the sport with his impressive performances in breaststroke. Dominating the water at an international level, Adam has represented his country at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and the Commonwealth Games. Having gained attention for his talents and technique, Adam now offers captivating after dinner talks combining anecdotes from his inspiring career with practical advice on achieving ambitions, mental resilience and maintain determination.
Having smashed 11 World Records, won gold at three Commonwealth Games and become the first swimmer to win two sprint breaststroke events in the same World Championships, it’s no surprise Adam has been hailed a great of the sport. Not only does he continually gain unprecedented results in competition, but Adam’s sportsmanship has gained him a loyal fan base and reputation amongst professionals. Solidifying his position in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, Adam gained Gold in the 100-meter breaststroke, the British male to achieve the feat in 24 years. Adam then went onto win Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and a Silver in the Men's 100m Breaststroke at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Currently boasting an impressive trophy cabinet including eight World Championship titles and 12 European Champions wins, Adam has proven there are no limits to his success. A relative latecomer to swimming, Adam, who trains at the National Centre Loughborough, was inspired to overcome his childhood fear of water when a friend invited him swimming, and he later joined Dove Valley Swimming Club. Showing a natural flair for breaststroke, Adam’s hobby quickly progressed to a potential professional sports career, and his dedication saw him secure three personal best times at his first senior event in 2013. Now competing alongside his former idols, Adam is an example of what determination and ambition can achieve. Named six times as the European Swimmer of the Year, Adam’s status goes beyond his success in the UK and he is now recognised globally for his masterful swimming abilities. Most recently, in 2022, Adam claimed 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold in the Men's 50m Breastroke.
A true testament to his influence in the sport, Adam was given the title of World Swimmer of the Year in 2015 and 2018. Recognised with an MBE in 2017 and an OBE in 2022 for his contributions to British sport, Adam’s after-dinner discussions explore the efforts behind the awards, and the qualities he’s honed to become a legend in the pool, a captivating talk for all in attendance.
