Claire Dubbelman is a leading figure in motorsports governance as the first woman to be granted a Race Director Super Licence by the FIA and a former Formula One Deputy Race Director. Drawing from almost 20 years’ experience working in motorsports, Claire shares insights into one of the most scrutinised and high-pressure roles in global sport.
After studying a degree in International Communications, Claire began her career in public relations as an Intern at Hemels Publishing and later as a Junior Marketing & PR Manager at Carver Europe BV. Building her foundation in motorsports, she worked as an Account Manager & Coordinator for Formula Renault, where she had a major role in organising the Northern European Championship. In 2012, Claire worked a freelance job as an FIA Media Delegate for the Formula 3 Euro Series alongside serving as a Partner at the communications and events agency, 2convince. Expanding her work with the Formula One governing body FIA, she became Championship Manager before joining F1 as a Sporting Manager & Deputy Race Director. During this time, she obtained the FIA Super Licence to be able to direct a Formula One Grand Prix. Leaving her role at the FIA, Claire now works in the Sporting & Technical Department at the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation, focusing on developing the future of motorsports in emerging markets to support the sport’s growth.
Widely celebrated for her achievements as a woman in motorsports, Claire has been featured in the BBC, Autosport and various Dutch media outlets. She is also championing gender diversity and inclusion by working as part of the SER Topvrouwen initiative in the Netherlands to highlight and celebrate the achievements of female leaders.
