British Olympic speaker and Paralympic swimmer Claire Cashmore has taken part in a number of Paralympic Games in spite of her young age; with London 2012 being her most successful to date Claire continues to train and is also working as a sports speaker at specialist disability and Paralympic after dinner speaker events. Born in Redditch in 1988 Claire Cashmore is physically disabled as she was born with only one arm; taking up swimming at a young age.
Claire has gone on to become one of the most iconic Paralympians and Olympic speakers of her generation. Claire made her professional world debut aged just 16 where she qualified for the Athens Games; Claire’s Olympic success began there and she returned from the 2004 Games with two bronze medals. As an Olympic speaker, Claire covers each of her experiences at the various Olympic Games in which she has taken part, highlighting the importance of training and showcasing her own development across the years.
The 2012 Olympic Games were Claire’s most successful thus far, garnering two silvers and a bronze Claire was spurred on by the home crowds and calls the wins her proudest moments; she is a moving sports speaker and those who witness her discussing these moments of great achievement are sure to be touched by her personal story. Recently, in 2021, Claire competed at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games where she claimed Paralympic Bronze in the PTS5 triathlon. Claire returned to the Paralympics in 2024, where she claimed Silver in the Paratriathlon at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Outside her work as a motivational and after dinner speaker Claire Cashmore is also an Ambassador for Disability Sport in the UK and champions the work the charity does to help encourage disabled children and young people in sports of all types.
