Dame Inga Beale is a pioneer of British business. As the former CEO of Lloyd's of London, she is credited for the corporate body's great success in the insurance and reinsurance market. As a female business leader, she is trailblazing representation for the future generation of CEOs through her successful career. Inga is the living embodiment of "if I can do it, you can do it".
As a speaker, Inga shares her message of inclusion. The female role model is using her platform to inspire the next generation of businesswoman, a driving force behind her after dinner speeches. With over 40 years of experience on the frontline of business, she has expanded to discuss politics, including Brexit, gender equality and workplace culture.
So, let's find out more about one of the best CEO speakers on the circuit.
Businesswoman & CEO
Starting at Prudential Assurance Company in 1982 as an underwriter, Inga specialised in international treaty reinsurance. In a male dominated workplace, she quickly learnt the importance of self-belief, determination and resilience in the face of oppression. Following a short period backpacking in Asia, she then moved to Converium, a Swiss reinsurer. Due to her business-defining strategies, she was appointed Global Chief Underwriting Officer.
In 2013, Inga was named CEO of Lloyd's of London. Despite the company being over 328 years old, she was the first female CEO of Lloyd's - a testament to Inga's influence. Under her lead, the insurance organisation employed expert strategies to minimise investment risk and maximise return for their clients. This resulted in Lloyd's soaring ahead of its market competitors.
Politics & Brexit
Inga was a vocal authority during the Brexit negotiations, as she believed that it imposed a risk to business stability. As the political climate of 2016 to early 2020 posed a danger to financial markets, Inga used her influential authority at the 2018 World Economic Forum to give a voice to British businesses. As Brexit entered the final stages, negotiators discussed trade deals with Inga's warning in mind.
In celebration of her influence, Inga was appointed DBE at the 2017 New Years Honours, to recognise her services to the British economy - including her advocacy for a sustainable Brexit. When appearing at after dinner events, Inga offers her audience a backstage view at the Brexit negotiations, from the perspective of a business owner.
LGBT+ & Female Role Model
As an advocate for female representation and an open bisexual, Inga uses her speaking career to not just discuss business, but how businesses would benefit from being more inclusive. Inga's discussions cover a wide range of topics, from politics to the LGBTQ+ community, making her the ideal speaker for an even wider range of events. Whether she is appearing as an after dinner speaker or female business speaker, her eloquence immediately engages audiences.
