Comedian and cabaret act Duggie Brown is a legend amongst British stand-up comedians and is most well-known for his Parrot and Plumber sketch which included the fateful line ‘who is it?’
Duggie Brown began his career on stage but it was not long before he graduated to television where he made his name as one of the longest serving acts on the popular Granada series the Comedians which he appeared in regularly from 1971 until 1993. With more than twenty years spent as one of television’s most popular comedians Duggie has maintained a successful live career since leaving TV in the early 90’s.
As well as continuing to tour as a comedian Duggie Brown has also worked as an actor appearing both on stage and in radio plays. He made his debut as an actor in 1977 in the BBC Radio production of Hinge and Bracket and has gone on to appear in Ken Loach’s radio production of The Price of Coal and as the Fool in a live stage production of Shakespeare’s King Lear.
