Cheeky chap, Kem captivated the nation with his humour, palpable charm and sensitivity. He coupled up with Amber Davies whilst living in the Love Island villa and whilst their journey wasn’t smooth, they grew stronger and fell in love in front of the nations eyes, going on to be crowned the winners. His infectious bromance with Chris Hughes became television gold and the pair supported each other through the up’s and down’s of finding love in the villa. Kem’s popularity can be demonstrated by his impressive following of over 2 million followers on Instagram.
Off the back of the hit television debut, Kem and Chris went on to star in their own spin off show Straight Outta Love Island, a two part series on ITV2 that followed their passions for music and rap. The show aired in October and showed the pair performing to a sell out crowd at the infamous Ministry of Sound, with a track they created whilst filming for the show. They were signed by Sony and Relentless Records, releasing their track Little Bit Leave It which went straight into the iTunes chart at number 1 and was the highest week 1 chart position for a debut artist that year. Furthermore, in 2018, Kem and Chris were given their own ITV2 series called You VS Chris & Kem.
More recently, he has had a string of television success, such as appearing as a contestant on the tenth series of Dancing on Ice in January 2018, and then returning to the show in 2019 to replace Jordan Banjo as the new digital host. Along with the new digital host job role, Kem was also given his own section on ITV’s This Morning to report about the celebrity news and gossip surrounding Dancing on Ice. He has also guest starred on shows such as ITV2’s Love Island: Aftersun, I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, Happy Hour with Olly Murs and Celebrity Juice. In 2018, Kem starred alongside his television partner Chris, in the celebrity version of Channel 4’s Hunted, in aid of charity organisation Stand Up To Cancer.
Not only has Kem featured on an array of TV shows, but he also has his own web series available on YouTube called Kem Cuts, where he interviews a surprise celebrity guest whilst giving them a fresh trim. In 2018, he also co-presented the first Love Island spin off podcast called Love Island: The Morning After, alongside Arielle Free, which delivered daily information and gossip straight from the Love Island villa.
In the summer of 2018, Kem and Chris were appointed by all-inclusive holiday specialists First Choice as ‘Braggage Handlers’, featuring in some of First Choices online adverts to encourage the public to brag about their holidays on social media.
Prior to Kem’s appearance on Love Island, he had a successful career as a barber gathering a strong following for his hairdressing talents. In addition Kem played semi-professional football until he was 17 years old, and returned to the pitch for a celebrity charity football match in September 2018 to raise money for a good cause.
Kem is passionate about encouraging young people to have the confidence to pursue their dreams and hopes to work closely with mental health awareness organisations to support young people.
