Graeme Obree

Record Breaking Cyclist

Sports speaker and World Record holder, Graeme Obree is known not only for his skill in professional cycling but also his contribution to cycle design and his unusual cycling position. Obree has created many bike frames and innovated the world of cycle design, however, his most famous design was called ‘Old Faithful’ which ended up being banned by the cycling authorities due to the position they forced you to ride in.

Originally from Scotland, Graeme was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, but considers himself as Scottish. Obree has had to deal with many trials and tribulations in his life, being bi-polar and dealing with depression. His life has been dramatised into the 2006 film The Flying Scotsman and then the more recent documentary, Battle Mountain: Graeme Obree’s Story. Some of Graeme’s achievements in his professional career were gaining the Mosers Record twice, became the Individual Pursuit World Champion from 1993-1995, winning both the RTTC 50 and 25 mile race and attending the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. With all of this personal and professional experience under his belt Graeme has the determination and motivation required to be a true inspiration.
