Arnie Boehm coached Lewis throughout his amateur career whilst also acting as a friend and father figure, establishing a record of 95-9. A renowned boxing speaker, Lewis’ approachable and engaging delivery of speeches makes him a favourite on the after dinner speaker circuit.
Lewis is regarded as one of the greatest boxing heavyweights of all time, turning professional in 1989; Lewis consecutively won his first 21 fights before knocking out Donovan Ruddock in 1992 to take the No. 1 ranking in WBC rankings.
Lennox became WBC Heavyweight Champion later that year after Riddick Bowe was stripped of the title. Lewis’ almost unrivalled 84-inch reach made him a formidable competitor, and is ranked to this day as BoxRec’s best ever pound-for-pound British boxer. As an after dinner speaker, Lennox talks of the rigorous training regimes needed to achieve peak performance as well as the drive and determination to succeed in such a brutal sport.
Lennox hung up his gloves in 2004 after knocking out Mike Tyson and beating Vitali Klitschko, finishing with an outstanding 41 wins (32 KOs), 2 losses and 1 draw. Lewis is only one of three heavyweights to have retired with no unavenged defeats. Lewis has gone onto become a boxing analyst and brand ambassador for a number of influential corporations.
