Will Buxton is a leading motorsport broadcaster, journalist and New York Times bestselling author, widely recognised as one of the defining voices of modern Formula 1 and IndyCar. A compelling keynote speaker, he is best known for his prominent role on Netflix’s ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’, the series that accelerated the sport’s global growth and introduced a new generation of fans to the drama behind the scenes. With more than two decades embedded in the paddock, Will combines insider access with sharp analysis, making him one of the most trusted and engaging communicators in elite motorsport.
From the age of 13, Will was determined to write about racing. He began his professional career in 2001 with GrandPrix.com before joining F1 Magazine in 2002, later contributing to national titles including Metro in London. By 2008, he had become Editor of GPWeek, and in 2013 he was appointed Editor at Large of GP International, cementing his reputation as a respected authority on the sport. His first broadcast role came with the BBC in 2005, reporting from Wales Rally GB, but it was his move to the United States in 2010 as a Formula 1 pitlane reporter for Speed Channel that marked a turning point. A transition to NBC Sports in 2013 expanded his profile further, where he covered both Formula 1 and IndyCar, building a loyal American following through his energetic and informed reporting.
In 2018, Will was appointed Formula 1’s first Digital Presenter, becoming the lead face and voice across the sport’s official digital platforms, a role he held until the end of the 2024 season. Over the course of his career, he has reported on more than 300 Grand Prix, becoming synonymous with accessible, human storytelling within a highly technical environment. His central presence on ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’ positioned him as a global ambassador for the sport during a period of rapid commercial growth. In 2025, he takes on a new challenge as Lead Anchor and Play-by-Play Announcer for IndyCar on FOX, guiding coverage as the championship moves to network US television. Alongside broadcasting, he is an accomplished author, with ‘My Greatest Defeat’ becoming an immediate bestseller in 2019 and ‘Grand Prix: An Illustrated History of Formula 1’ achieving New York Times Bestseller status in 2024.
As a keynote speaker, Will offers rare insight into leadership, resilience and performance at the highest level. Drawing on conversations with world champions and team principals, he explores how elite teams manage pressure measured in thousandths of a second. He speaks on storytelling in sport, the evolution of global media, personal branding and the commercial transformation of Formula 1. Audiences value his warmth, humour and clarity, as well as his ability to translate complex technical detail into practical lessons for business.
