Karun Chandhok

Karun Chandhok is a highly respected Formula 1 commentator, technical analyst, and pit lane reporter, renowned for his work with global broadcasters such as Channel 4, BBC, BeIN Sports, and currently, Sky Sports. As one of only two Indian drivers to compete in Formula 1, Karun's biggest achievement is his enduring impact on the sport both on and off the track.. Karun’s influence extends internationally, where his commentary is broadcast to 62 countries, making him a familiar and trusted voice for millions of F1 fans.

Karun's early career began in Chennai, where he quickly made a name for himself by winning the Indian National Championship in his debut season in 2000. He followed this with a victory in the Formula Asia Championship in 2001, showcasing his talent on a larger stage. His success in Asia paved the way for his move to British Formula 3, where he secured a podium finish in the British Formula 3 Championship - National Class in 2003. These achievements led to his role as a test driver for the Red Bull Formula 1 team in 2007 and ultimately to competing in the Formula 1 World Championship with Hispania Racing Team and Team Lotus. 

Notably, Karun became the first Indian to compete in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing in the top six on three occasions. His involvement with Formula E, sports car racing, and historic racing, including his work with the Williams F1 Team’s Heritage division, further highlights his diverse talents. Karun's contributions to motorsport governance include his roles on the Board of Motorsport UK and the FIA Driver’s Commission, where he represents drivers' rights and works on junior single seater development. His role in organising the Indian Grand Prix alongside then-CEO Bernie Ecclestone is a testament to his influence within the sport.
