Vidyamala Burch OBE is a respected mindfulness and compassion teacher, coach, keynote speaker, and award-winning author. Having developed the world's first mindfulness-based pain and illness management (MBPM) programme, she has gained great success within the industry and later became the Co-Founder of the mindfulness organisation Breathworks. When looking for a passionate speaker who focuses on topics such as overcoming adversity, living with a disability, and mindful leadership, look no further than Vidyamala.
Having suffered a spinal injury at the age of 17 which left her with a complex back condition, Vidyamala recognised the power of mindfulness whilst working her way through the difficult situation. Turning to meditating every day, she began to understand how it eased her mental torment associated with physical pain. Determined to explore her mind, the mindfulness training allowed her to transform her journey, and believes by sharing this knowledge, she will allow others to do the same.
On a mission to inspire and empower others, she became the Co-Founder of Breathworks, a remarkable mindfulness organisation, in 2001. Reaching over a thousand people a year, the organisation provides courses, retreats, and training across 35 countries worldwide. Named one of the most influential disabled people in the UK by The Shaw Trusts Power List for four years running, Vidyamala has recognised the need for educating audiences within our society regarding mindfulness and has ensured that she implements a positive change as much as possible in people’s lives throughout her career.
A woman of many talents, Vidyamala Burch OBE released her best-selling publication ‘Mindfulness for Health’ in 2013.
