Stuart Lancaster is best known for being a rugby union coach, famously coaching the England national team. Coaching the team from 2011 to 2015, Stuart has led the team to a number of significant victories using his expertise in leadership and team management. Having both played and coached the sport, Stuart knows what it takes to maximise peak performance and stay in top form.
After qualifying to teach PE, Stuart began playing for a number of rugby clubs. In 1998, however he decided to take a break from teaching and instead follow his passion for rugby. He joined the Leeds Tykes to become a full-time professional rugby player. After playing with the team for a while, Stuart was given the privilege of captaining the team. After a decade of playing the sport, Stuart unfortunately had to retire aged 30 due to injury.
After his retirement from the sport, Stuart decided to venture into coaching the sport instead. In 2000, Stuart began running the Leeds RFU Academy, which he ran for five years. In 2006 Stuart replaced Phil Davies as the head coach of Leeds, and Stuart helped Leeds earn a promotion after they scored an impressive 122 points.
In 2008 it was announced that Stuart would be joining the England RFU to further his coaching career. His responsibilities lay with developing younger players, which gave him the opportunity to coach the England Saxons. During his time in this role, Stuart coached the team to a number of victories. At the 2008 Churchill Cup Stuart coached the team to claim a 62-10 win over USA and a 34-12 win over Ireland Wolfhounds. He also coached the team during the 2010 Churchill Cup, leading the team to victory in all three of their matches.
Stuart then went on to coach the senior England national team. In 2012 Stuart was appointed as temporary head coach after Martin Johnson's departure. He went on to coach the team at the 2012 Six Nations Championships, and after impressing officials he was appointed fully as head coach. Stuart then went on to coach England at the 2012 End-of-Year Rugby Union Internationals, World Cup Championships, 2013 Six Nations Championships, 2014 Six Nations Championships, 2015 Six Nations Championships and the 2015 Rugby World Cup. In November of 2015, Stuart resigned as head coach of England.
