Former English rugby union player, Trevor Woodman has celebrated a successful career playing for both Gloucester and Sale Sharks, as well as representing his country on the England national team. Trevor began playing rugby as a schoolboy, attending Liskeard School in Cornwall and playing rugby whilst studying. He went on to represent Cornwall Under 16s and claim a number of victories and honours in the process. Trevor later moved to Plymouth, where he played for Plymouth Albion and Bath rugby. In 1996, Trevor moved to play for Gloucester rugby, going on to play in a number of significant games for the team. He played at the 2002 Zurich Championship Final and the 2003 Powergen Cup Final. In 1999 Trevor was selected to play for the England national team, appearing a total of seven times for the England A team.
In the 1999 World Cup Trevor was capped for the first time after he came off the bench in a game against the USA. Unfortunately, injury stopped him from competing in his next selection for the team, missing out on the 2000 tour of South Africa. Trevor started for the first time in 2002 in England’s match against the All Blacks. Due to a neck injury, Trevor unfortunately had to sit out of rugby for three months and had to withdraw from the Autumn Internationals. In 2003, Trevor returned to play for England, appearing as a replacement in the matches against Scotland and Ireland. Due to his performance in pre-tournament matches, Trevor was selected to play in the 2003 World Cup. During the World Cup, he played in the position of loose-head prop and went on to become one of the best props in the game.
At the start of the 2004 season Trevor joined the Sale Sharks, but unfortunately he badly injured his back during training and was forced to retire from the sport in 2005. After retiring from the sport he has gone on to do commentary for Fox Sports, predominantly in Australia. He has also started a career as a rugby coach, after moving to Australia and becoming the National Scrum Coach. Trevor returned to England and became the Forwards coach for the Wasps, before returning to Gloucester to be the Scrum Coach. He has also worked as an ambassador for International Animal Rescue, currently working to help promote the rescue and rehabilitation of suffering bears in India. He received an MBE in the 2004 New Year’s Honours list. Given Trevors experience in both playing and coaching the sport, he makes for the perfect rugby speaker for any corporate event, conference or function. With a charismatic personality and a plethora of personal experiences to share, he is guaranteed to light up any event.
