Welsh rugby union player Gavin Henson is no stranger to the public spotlight. With his esteemed rugby career as part of the Wales national team and relationship with famous singer Charlotte Church, Gavin has never been far from the attention of the media. Having played a number of different positions in rugby, including fly-half and fullback, Gavin knows what it takes to maximise and maintain peak performance. Gavin’s love for the sport was founded at a young age, beginning to play rugby when he was at school. At the age of 18, Gavin joined Swansea RFC to begin paving the way to his international career when he later signed for the Wales A team. Making his international debut in 2001, Gavin played in a test against Japan. His next game came in the match against Romania in September 2001, where he played as a fly-half. In November of 2001, Gavin scored his first international try in a match against Uruguay.
In 2003 Gavin played for the Ospreys rugby team, his first match being against Ulster. He scored two tries and kicked a penalty and conversion to win the team 15 points. 2004 brought more games for Gavin, taking part in the Wales autumn internationals against New Zealand and South Africa. In 2005 Gavin had the opportunity to play at the 2005 Six Nations Championships, giving an effective performance throughout. In 2005 Gavin published his own book, My Grand Slam Year, showing his talents outside playing rugby. 2008 brought Gavin’s next triumph, starting in all of Wales’ games in the 2008 Six Nations Championships. In 2010 Gavin left the Ospreys and signed with the Saracens, making his debut for the team in the Boxing Day match against the London Wasps. As well as those significant teams, Gavin has also played for Toulon, Cardiff Blues, London Welsh, Bath, Bristol and Dragons rugby teams.
Outside of rugby, Gavin has had his fair share of television appearances. Also in 2010, Gavin competed on Strictly Come Dancing, reaching 5th place in the competition. Gavin also featured on the programme The Bachelor in 2011.
