Siddharth Sinha, the Geo & Climate Policy Lead at Google, spearheads the tech giant’s initiatives in the realms of climate and sustainability in India. Appointed a Yale Climate Fellow in 2024, Siddharth is a notable figure when it comes to finding solutions to the climate change crisis. Siddharth has received a rarified education, earning a BTech from the Vellore Institute of Technology and a Master of Public Administration from LSE. In his time at the latter, he was the Founder & President of the LSE South Asia Society, which was created to influence eminent discourse on matters related to South Asia. Early on in his career, Siddharth worked as an Analyst at KPMG, whilst running his NGO Uddeshya in his capacity as Founder & Chairman. He also served as a Consultant to the United Nations and currently contributes as a Young Leader for the Indo-German Young Leaders Forum.
Initially part of the Young Professionals Program of NITI Aayog/Ministry of Planning, Siddharth’s role as the Chief of Staff to the CEO of the National Institution of Transforming India (NITI Aayog), Siddharth consulted the CEO on matters related to climate, transportation, digital public infrastructure and AI. He was tasked with liaising with different state, district and central ministries and governments, and working closely with the Prime Minister’s Office. In 2022, Siddharth was appointed Advisor to India’s G20 Sherpa, the PM’s personal envoy to the G20 Summit. These roles showcase Siddharth’s experience in working on national climate policy matters.
One of the minds behind India’s COP26 Strategy, Siddharth has also coordinated two decarbonisation initiatives, which led to the development of India’s first life cycle assessment model for transport emissions. In 2024, Siddharth received the Salzburg Global Fellowship, which will allow him to further his positive impact on the world.
