Sarah Harper

A widely respected academic and a leading name among inspirational speakers, Sarah Harper has enjoyed a colourful career as a researcher and public figure. As a Governor of the Pensions Policy Institute, Sarah’s work focuses on the numerous impacts of an ageing population. Furthermore, her work in the area of Gerontology – the scientific study of old age – has helped her become a recognised authority in her field. Having begun her career as a reporter for the BBC, it wasn’t long before Sarah found her way into academia. She travelled numerous continents during this time, becoming the first person to hold the University of Malaya’s International Chair in Old Age Financial Stability. Since then, she has functioned as the chair of the UK Government Foresight Review and the European Ageing Index Panel for the UNESCE Population Unit.

Sarah has fulfilled several notable positions throughout her distinguished career. To this day, she continues to function as a Professor of Gerontology at the University of Oxford. She founded the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing back in 1997 and continues to serve as its Co-Director. As if that weren’t enough, she has also fulfilled a variety of positions for organisations such as the UK Research Integrity Office, the Royal Institution of Great Britain and Health Data Research UK.
