Roger Ballentine is a leading expert in sustainability and green businesses. He is also a board member and advisor at several climate change committees including the American Council on Renewable Energy. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut, he went on to graduate Cum Laude from Harvard Law School. Following completion of his degree at Harvard, he spent nine years as a partner at Squire Patton Boggs law firm. He is also a member of the Connecticut, District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court bars. Roger then worked at the White House in various roles. He served former President Bill Clinton as Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force and Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives. Prior to that, he worked as Special Assistant to the President of Legislative Affairs. Roger also co-founded the American Council on Renewable Energy and acts as a board member of several organisations including Energy Automation Systems Inc. As well as an active board member he sits on the advisory boards of groups such as the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Clean Capital and 8 Rivers Capital. His expertise also sees him act as Co-Chair of the Aspen Institute’s Clean Energy Innovation Forum and as a member of the Ingersoll Rand's Advisory Committee on Sustainability. He is also on the Selection Committee for the United Arab Emirates Zayed Future Energy Prize.
Roger is a venture partner in Arborview Capital, a firm that invests in organisations working in the clean energy and energy efficiency sectors. He is best known though for his role as Founder and President of Green Strategies Inc, an environmental and energy consulting firm. Through the company, he advises businesses on sustainable strategy, how to include energy and environmental considerations in wider business plans and project execution in the clean energy sector. He has worked with Coca Cola, LG, Toyota, and Unilever amongst a number of other international brands helping them to improve and implement their sustainability plans. He is also a regular writer and media commentator and was a lecturer at Harvard Law School teaching energy and climate policy.
