For 20 years former BBC journalist Andy Pag has been attempting unorthodox forms of sustainable travel. From the chocolate-powered lorry, he drove to Timbuktu, to gliding on thermal winds above the Himalayas, to circumnavigating the world in a scrapyard bus fuelled only with used cooking oil he scavenged from restaurant bins along the way. To his surprise, many of his experiments proved both successful and sustainable. With over 10 years of experience addressing events, he now gives talks live from the sailboat he lives and travels aboard, giving an honest critique of his amazing journeys, and sharing the lessons he's learned the hard way from trying to behave sustainably in a world powered by carbon fuels, and where success is often tied to consumption.
Andy is an award-winning TV reporter, often seen bringing both news and hard-hitting investigations to viewers across Northern Ireland. Having won silver for Best Documentary in the PPI Radio Awards, Andy's influential presentation style is known to be engaging yet informative. His down-to-earth and friendly nature allows him to speak candidly about some of the most pressing environmental issues. Furthermore, Andy’s highly publicised journeys to Timbuktu, Greece and his round-the-world trips were covered extensively by global media organisations, including the BBC, ITV, Sky News, CBS, Reuters, The Telegraph, and the Paris Metro. During this time, Andy drove a chocolate-powered lorry to Timbuktu in Mali in the world's first carbon-negative expedition.
Continuously searching for more sustainable ways to live and travel, Andy Pag is constantly taking on more experimental expeditions, bringing to the forefront possible alternatives and the importance of changing ideologies to create a more sustainable environment for all. The entertaining and inspiring tales from the road which he shares and the conclusions he draws are thought-provoking for both businesses and individuals wrestling with the accelerating need to address their sustainability footprint. His talks frame the challenges of sustainability in a refreshing non-confrontational way and invite debate and new thinking among audiences.

"What can I say? Andy was absolutely amazing. He was engaging, passionate, enthusiastic and funny. His talk was absolutely spot on the theme that we had given and he managed to incorporate our values as a business. I have had nothing but positive feedback from everyone. The only negative feedback is that he didn’t speak for long enough!! We would have listened to him speak all night. Please pass on our thanks to Andy."
