Richard McGhee

Richard McGhee is a renowned former Firefighter who has overcome many personal battles with mental health during his career. Working in a high-pressure environment can be an incredibly challenging task, which is why he is now prepared to share his story at events to allow the audience to understand that they are not alone. Having been through a difficult situation, Richard is looking to speak on topics such as mental health, his triggers, and his recovery process.

In 1999, Richard started his professional career at the Devon Fire and Rescue Service as a Firefighter in his hometown. Developing his skillset, he also gained the opportunity to complete community-facing roles throughout the fire service. Richard focused on educational roles and helping young people get back into a stable society after being involved in crime and anti-social behaviour as he was prepared to share the knowledge he has gained throughout his career with the community.

During his 14 years of experience within the fire service, Richard struggled greatly with his mental health for many years. In 2015, he decided to take a career break to focus on himself and begin the recovery process. Richard now works as a Freight Forwarder at All World Freight Ltd and has also been part of various mental health charity campaigns and promotional media posts to share his previous experiences with facing mental health issues with a wider audience.

Richard McGhee has experienced many ups and downs throughout his career and is now very comfortable talking about the battles he has faced. With a passion for helping others, he is looking to help as many people as possible by raising awareness about mental health and how people can begin the recovery process. Having gained vast amounts about mental health throughout his career, Richard’s insights are valuable to the audience and has now become a highly sought-after speaker for both virtual and in-person events.
