A high-profile business executive and journalist, Sir Richard Lambert has served in some of the most distinguished institutions in the world. Formerly the Director General of the CBI and Editor-in-Chief of The Financial Times, Lambert is one of the major international authorities on finance and business. Lambert was a business journalist prior to 1991 when he was promoted from his role with The Financial Times, to take on the role of editor. During his time with the news publication, Lambert would grow the FT exponentially. New markets were born around the world, allowing editions to be released in Paris, Tokyo and New York, among others. He would also be at the forefront of the launch for FTonline and the doubling of global circulation. Following his hugely successful stint with the FT, he was brought in as a member of the Bank of England's Monetary Committee.
His experience with both would see him assume further responsibility in the following decade. Lambert led the CBI through the financial crisis, supporting the interests of over a hundred thousand British businesses through the tumultuous time. While British banks were bailed out and recession hit homes and businesses around the world, Lambert ensured the CBI, provided a voice for distressed business owners in the UK.
Following the crisis, Lambert went on to chair the Banking Standards Review Council, where he was charged with revamping the way banks behaved, aiming to decrease risk and improve communication. Since his efforts to reform the banks, he moved into other areas of interest, taking up a role as Chairman of the British Museum in 2014. He would also become Chancellor of the University of Warwick in 2008. Owing to his high level of experience in sectors including education, art, journalism and business, Lambert enjoys a reputation as a notable executive. Having spoken at events including the Warwick Economics Summit, Australia-New Zealand Climate Change and Business Conference, an 'Industry and the City - Revitalising the Economy' conference by World Traders, as well as on television and radio broadcasts, Sir Richard Lambert is one of the most coveted finance speakers and business experts on British soil today.
