A completely self-taught chef, Raymond Blanc is one of the most influential and respected celebrity chefs in the world. Raymond’s story of growing his business empire is built on foundations of hard work, excellent delivery of cuisine and exemplary customer service. Raymond is now one of the most liked TV personalities and a pre-eminent restaurateur, owning a multitude of dining chains. Raymond began his culinary career in the UK in 1972 at The Rose Revived in Newbridge, Oxford. Not before too long, Raymond opened Les Quat’ Saisons in Summertown, Oxford. Raymond borrowed money from almost everyone he knew, stating; “we mortgaged the house, owed 18 further people, and opened in a corridor between a lingerie shop and Oxfam”.
Raymond’s risky move proved to be a huge success, winning the Egon Ronay Guide Restaurant of the Year as well as two Michelin stars. The 1980s brought huge success for Blanc, opening a chain of boulangeries and patisseries that also contained cafès inside. With each being called Maison Blanc, Raymond currently owns fourteen of them around the country including many in London and one in Oxford. 1983 became a defining year for Blanc’s career with the purchase of a manor house in Great Milton, Oxfordshire. Called Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, Raymond was quickly awarded double Michelin star status, five AA stars and a score of 19/20 from the renowned French guide Gault Millau. Described as "one of the ultimate gastronomic destinations in the country", Raymond has established a reputation for excellence and exclusivity across the globe.
Blanc caught national attention as a celebrity chef when first appearing on television screens in 1985 in Take Six Cooks. From then on, Raymond has been synonymous with creating quality culinary productions that are bolstered with his French charm and characteristic French accent. In recent times, Blanc has made stalwart appearances for the BBC, presenting his own shows including Kitchen Secrets, The Very Hungry Frenchman and Raymond Blanc: How to Cook Well. Ideal for cooking demonstrations and events, Raymond has the ability to interact and engage with guests whilst providing refined and delicious delicacies. Equally at home in front of the camera, Blanc makes an ideal TV Presenter and celebrity chef, charming audiences whilst providing insightful advice and expert cooking techniques.
