Ralf Schumacher is a decorated former racing driver, who forged his success in Formula 3 before being promoted to Formula 1 as a Driver for Jordan Grand Prix, Williams and Toyota. The younger brother of the iconic Formula 1 racing driver Michael Schumacher, Ralf and his brother are the only siblings to have both won Formula 1 races. Having initially found success in karting, Ralf ultimately retired from active racing in 2013, and is now a leading Co-Commentator for Sky Sports Germany. When looking for an avid expert on motorsports or a leading event host, don’t hesitate in hiring Ralf Schumacher today!
Aged just three years old, Ralf began practising karting on his parent’s karting track, finding a talent for motorsports, claiming the Gold Cup and the NRW Cup in 1991. Dominating karting, Ralf’s next victory came when he won the German Junior Kart Championship in 1992, moving into car racing when he reached 17. Given the opportunity to test a Formula 3 car, Ralf competed in the 1994 German Formula Three Championship, finishing in third place. A highly passionate racer, Ralf was able to secure victory at the 1995 Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 and second place at the Master of Formula 3. In addition to Formula 3, Ralf also competed in and won the Formula Nippon Series of 1996 and the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship.
In 1997, Ralf moved to compete in Formula 1, joining the Jordan Grand Prix team for his first two seasons. In 1999, Ralf began racing for Wiliams, winning the 2001 San Marino Grand Prix and the 2001 Canadian Grand Prix, during which his brother Michael finished in second place – the first time siblings made a 1-2 finish. Ralf later went on to win the 2001 German Grand Prix, the 2002 Malaysian Grand Prix, the 2003 European Grand Prix and the 2003 French Grand Prix, before moving to drive for Toyota in 2005. Failing to secure any wins with Toyota, Ralf left Formula 1 to compete in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, before retiring from active motorsports in 2013 and moving into a management role for Mücke Motorsport. In addition to his racing career, Ralf has also formerly been the Chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers Association and was appointed as the Laureus Ambassador for the Laureus Foundation.
With a decorated racing career to his name, Ralf is now a Co-Commentator for Sky Sports Germany, often found sharing his expert knowledge on motorsports trackside. Commended for his ability to share the inside knowledge of a former Formula 1 driver, Ralf is a favourite for motorsport-themed events across the globe. Having secured 6 Formula 1 Grand Prix wins, 27 podium positions, 329 career points and 8 fastest laps, Ralf is able to share both his victories and failures as a racing driver – demonstrating his ability to overcome challenges. When looking for an avid motorsports expert to speak at your next event, don’t hesitate in hiring Ralf Schumacher.
