The man behind the hit game-show Who Wants to be a Millionaire Paul Smith was the former the chairman of Celador Entertainment, who were responsible for many popular television programmes in the 1990s. A senior media figure he came from Belfast and helped to put one of the most successful quiz shows on our TV screens, and also produced a multi-Oscar-winning blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire which grossed a staggering £291 million at the box office.

Paul had originally pitched the idea for the show back in 1995 however it was rejected. He proved them wrong when the show was being shown in dozens of countries worldwide a decade later. He is known for many other productions such as The Descent, Dirty Pretty Things and The London Programme. He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2012 Queen's New Year’s Honours List for his services to the Media Industry.
