Owain Wyn Evans has enjoyed an already successful career as a journalist and broadcaster, currently working as a reporter for The One Show and the lead weather presenter for BBC North West Tonight. Throughout his career, Owain has spoken openly about his sexuality, coming out as Gay and passionately advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. Most recently in 2021, Owain made his debut as a weather presenter on BBC Breakfast and completed a 24-hour drumathon for Children in Need. He has also recently appeared on Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof and presented ‘in conversation with’ for BBC Sounds.
In recognition of his already decorated career, Owain has been the recipient of the 2019 Best TV Presenter at the O2 Media Awards for Yorkshire and Humber and the 2021 Best Regional Presenter and Best Breakthrough Talent Awards at the Royal Television Society North West Awards. Throughout his career, Owain has fallen victim to homophobia and received abuse due to his presenting style. Passionately and openly speaking about his sexuality, Owain uses his platform to raise awareness of the homophobia that continues to exist within society and creates acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community. In recognition of his passionate advocacy, Owain has been named multiple times on the WalesOnline Pinc List of the Most Influential LGBTQ People from Wales.
