Nicky Abdinor

Nicky Abdinor is a truly inspirational woman. Born without arms did not deter Nicky in her ambitions and desire to make a lasting impression on other people’s lives experiencing diversity. A professional speaker, Nicky has spent much of her life as a keynote speaker inspiring audiences with her story and proving nothing is impossible.

A remarkable woman, Nicky Abdinor was born without her arms and shortened legs, meaning she was physically disabled, and doctors expected her to have a lower quality of life due to her physical limitations. However, Nicky was empowered by her ability to achieve the seemingly impossible and lead a fulfilled life due to her drive, perseverance and positive mental attitude. Combining these attributes has made Nicky the happy, successful and inspirational role model she is today.

One of Nicky’s many impressive achievements is her career as a clinical psychologist. Gifted with a naturally positive disposition, Nicky credits this to her ability to achieve beyond her limits and was motivated to help others create the same mindset. Based in Cape Town, Nicky runs her own therapy consultancy, specialising in depression, anxiety and a number of other mental roadblocks. As a registered healthcare professional Nicky has given hundreds of patients a renewed outlook on life through her consultancy.

Additionally, Nicky Abdinor has used her platform to help others with a disability to gain independence by founding Nicky’s Drive. A non-profit charity that provides speciality adapted vehicles to allow people with physical disabilities the opportunity to drive. Finding that public transport can be inaccessible for people with similar conditions to Nicky, she responded by founding the company, as she believes that independence and inclusion in mainstream skills like driving were part of the key to her success.

Determined to share her story, Nicky Abdinor has become renowned as an inspirational speaker, traveling the world with her message, to focus on our strengths with positive psychology. Combining her qualifications as a psychologist with her experience of physical disability, Nicky shows audiences that anything is possible with the right mindset. As a member of the Global Speakers Federation, Nicky has shared her inspirational story with a number of corporate clients and gave a TEDx talk titled ‘Table Mountain’.
