Monika Sattler is a woman on a mission. Her story is an epic tale of how she left behind a successful career to followed her dreams, defy the odds and become the first woman in history to complete the full 3000km Tour of Spain. After obtaining a degree from Georgetown University, Monika started on a lucrative career path, climbing the ladder at the World Bank. However, Monika knew there was more she aspired to, and quit her job to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a professional cyclist. Inevitably there were hurdles she crossed, she moved continents and got new jobs, fell out of love with the idea of a sporting career, and eventually settled in Malaga, Spain with her bike and a dream.
Proving she knew what it takes to go for goals and achieve the impossible, Monika set out to complete a world record. 80% of people believed it was impossible. Fast-forward to September 2018 and she became the first woman in history to complete every kilometre of the Vuelta e Espana, a professional male-only race that covers over 3000km of cycling. Monika organised and rode the same route as her male counterparts on the same day only hours beforehand, a huge accomplishment for any athlete.
From a one-woman idea, this project has received worldwide media attention being featured in over 10 countries, 5 National TV channels and reached the hearts of thousands who came out and supported her. Monika is a role model of turning the idea of dreams into a reality, something everyone can relate to. Spurred on by the support and reach that her world record received, Monika has published a book titled "Unleashing my RAD Potential" all about her brave and risky decisions.
