Mike Lloyd

Mike Lloyd’s passion is to help solve education problems through technology. Having directly experienced the joy and effectiveness of students learning with technology, Lloyd has a great motivation to drive the use of technology in education. He has worked with governments and businesses in over 30 countries on how to make education systems more effective through the use of a range of technologies. 47% of today’s jobs could be automated in the next two decades (Oxford University), and schools need to be ready to foster the creativity that people will need to set them apart from computers (Economist).

Lloyd has written several books about education including Schooling at the Speed of Thought, National Grid for Learning, a School Plan and Fresh Approaches to Funding ICT. Lloyds’s early career as a teacher and manager in schools involved infrastructure, curriculum and capacity development, giving him a solid grounding in the practical implementation of technology in education. His experience in technical projects and running Microsoft’s largest annual Education Technology event for 6 years has given him a solid grounding as a project manager with a strong technical bias.

As a speaker Mike Lloyd has connected with audiences across the globe. Most recently he attended the Education World Forum, the world’s biggest gathering of education ministers from over 120 countries. His thought-provoking keynote speech on the use of artificial intelligence in education was well-received by all in attendance. Prior to this, Lloyd ran a session for Barclays Bank and a further two for Microsoft on similar topics.
