Michel Camdessus is a French economist, administrator and finance speaker who is the longest serving Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF); his term serving from January 1987 to June 2000. Camdessus has worked as a finance speaker and economist in his native France for more than forty years, acting in his time as Chairman of the French Financing Corporation, the Société de Financement de l'Economie Française (SFEF), Director of the Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, Chairman of the Paris Club, and Chairman of the Monetary Committee of the European Economic Community.
