Michael Perry

Michael Perry, better known as Mr Plant Geek, is one of the most sought after television gardeners, he has a cool demeanour and decades of experience culminating his horticultural knowledge. A prominent presence in the media, Perry has an avid social following, topping 50,000 followers across Twitter and Instagram, and makes regular appearances on leading gardening shows. Perry’s talents have taken him across the world, providing lectures and popular keynote talks on the latest and greatest in all things plants, making him the ideal speaker for your business, society or event.

First stepping into the spotlight on QVC, Perry made an immediate impression as a down to earth, but vastly knowledgeable plant guru. From a passion for gardens grew an illustrious media career for Perry, who has since appeared many times on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Great British Garden Revival and This Morning, to name a few. Refreshingly dynamic in his delivery, Perry’s lively presenting style offers something new to the often formal gardening programmes. Further diversifying his career, Perry launched The Plant Based Podcast, which has topped the podcasting charts due to its humble approach to gardening. An adolescent spent masking his fascination with plants, for fear of being uncool, eventually led Perry to study at Otley College. Gaining skills across a range of outdoor activities, from tractor driving to planting seeds, Perry quickly found his niche with garden design and plant identification, leading him to further explore his talents in horticulture. Much of Perry’s early career saw him develop new plants and introduce species into the UK, through a number of award winning projects with Thompson & Morgan. In 2012 his creation of the Digitalis ‘Illumination Pink’ won Plant of the Year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the retailer.

With over twenty years in horticulture, Perry has completed a considerable number of projects overseas. Requested to lecture in Japan, and grow gardens in China, the well travelled green thumbed professional is quite an international sensation. In recent years his UK based work includes developing a show garden at Jimmy’s Farm and establishing the charity group The Grubby Gardeners. Much of his time is currently dedicated to speaking engagements, as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Horticulturalists named by The Sunday Times, Perry is highly in demand and offers a range of tried and tested talks or a totally bespoke keynote speech for your occasion.
