Carol Klein is widely known for her expertise in gardening, which she has used to become a well-established TV presenter and a newspaper columnist. From a young age, Carol had a prominent interest in gardening after spending her days at her grandad’s allotment. Before her days of television fame, Carol trained as an art teacher, teaching at schools in Shepherd’s Bush in London. After teaching in London, Carol made the decision to move to the sunny coasts of Devon. Upon moving to Devon, Carol taught art at the North Devon College and South Molton secondary school and community college.
After teaching for a period of time in Devon, Carol decided to leave it behind and instead set up Glebe Cottage Plants, her own plant nursery. From then on her love for gardening blossomed, going on to create exhibitions for the Royal Horticultural Society at 200 of their shows. She also contributed displays to the illustrious Chelsea Flower Show, with her beautiful displays claiming six Chelsea Flower Show gold medals. Since then, Carol has forged a reputation as one of the most familiar faces of the gardening world.
In 1989 Carol made her debut as a television presenter, presenting Gardener’s World for the BBC. Since her presenting debut, Carol has been sought to present various other programmes including Open Gardens and Real Gardens. After she presented a variety of programmes for channels such as the BBC and Channel 4, Carol was given the opportunity to present her own series titled Wild About The Garden. She has also been a joint presenter of Great British Garden Revival for the BBC. She has also appeared on Life In A Cottage Garden, based on her own garden in Devon, and has presented Great British Gardens: Season By Season for Channel 5.
Outside of television, Carol is also frequently seen publishing her writing for top publications. She has previously contributed to the BBC Gardener’s World Magazine and written columns for The Guardian. She has also claimed several awards during her career, including the Victoria Medal Of Honour from the Royal Horticultural Society and named as the Nation’s Favourite Gardener by Yorkshire Women’s Life Magazine. Carol has authored several books too, including titles of Grow Your Own Veg & Fruit Bible, Making A Garden, Wild Flowers and Life In A Cottage Garden.
Having built an established reputation through her television presenting and writing, Carol is now highly sought to appear at a range of corporate events.
