The gardening expert who has long been a favourite onGardeners’ World since she first appeared on the show in 1989, Carol Klein is one of the most highly respected people in the gardening profession and inspires viewers to get in to the garden. Having been a frequent presence on Gardeners’ World since her TV debut, Carol was made a permanent presenter on the show in 2005. She has also presented other shows including the award-winning, Grow Your Own Veg and Life in a Cottage Garden with Carol Klein, which followed the progress of her own garden at Glebe Cottage in North Devon throughout the year.
Carol is also a prolific author, writing many books to accompany her shows as well as separately. Grow Your Own Veg spent six months in the top twenty best seller list, making it the best-selling book on gardening ever. She also regularly contributes to The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Gardeners’ World magazine, Gardens Illustrated, English garden and horticulture, and has a weekly double spread in Garden News, in which she shares her gardening tips and expertise.
What makes Carol so well-loved is her passion for organic gardening, and her trust in nature and natural gardening processes only. The plant nursery that she maintained for 30 years won many awards the RHS shows she exhibited it at, including the six gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show. Her gardens are not over-tidy, and her passion for ‘real’ gardens shines through and has earned her many loyal fans throughout the years.
