Megan Keith has enjoyed success as a track, field and cross-country athlete, with her most prominent achievement being when she became the European U23 Champion in the 5000m. Initially finding success in orienteering, Megan decided to focus on running at age 16. Having most recently represented Team GB at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Megan is now also highly sought after as a speaker for events across the globe, sharing the story of her sporting successes and how she has overcome adversity as an elite athlete.
Initially competing in the sport of orienteering, Megan stamped her name in the history books as the first female to win a Gold medal for Great Britain in the European Youth Orienteering Championships in 2018. A year later, in 2019, Megan claimed the first-ever British Gold at the Junior World Orienteering Championships, cementing her talent in orienteering and claiming recognition of the Scottish Young Sportswoman of the Year, at the Scottish Women in Sport Awards. Making her debut for Great Britain in athletics, Megan competed at the 2019 European U20 Cross Country Championships, finishing in 27th place. Just two years later, Megan won Gold at the 2021 European U20 Cross Country Championships.
Further success followed, claiming Silver at the 2022 European Cross Country Championships. She also claimed double Gold at the 2023 European Cross Country Championships in both the U23 race and the U23 team events, before setting an U23 European Record in the 10k, with a time of 31.22 minutes. She later set a British U23 Record for the 5000m, recording an impressive time of 14:43.24. At the 2024 European Athletics Championships, Megan was selected to represent Team GB in the 10,000m – winning Bronze. Qualifying to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Megan made headlines when she crossed the line last – with hundreds of avid watchers looking on as she crossed the finishing line, following an ankle injury that saw her lapped by other competitors. Despite the adversity of her ankle injury, Megan persevered to cross the finish line.
With a truly inspirational story of sporting success, and challenges, to share, Megan is now highly sought after as a sports speaker for events across the country. From becoming a double European Cross Country Champion to crossing the finishing line in 23rd place at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Megan shares the reality of elite sport and what it takes to achieve peak performance. If you are looking for a sporting role model to share their story at your next event, Megan Keith is a fantastic choice.
