Mark Beaumont BEM is an Ultra-endurance adventurer, broadcaster, keynote speaker and TV presenter who is best known as the Guinness World Record holder for circumnavigating the 18,000-mile journey around the world. This was Marks’s second attempt at cycling around the world – a feat he achieved nine years prior but the record was later broken. This second attempt broke the previous world record by an astounding 82 days. Mark has an unrivalled ability to translate his record-breaking feats into strategic planning for businesses during his speeches, in which, he has over 15 years of experience.
Destined for greatness and a life of adventure at a young age, Mark was only 15 when he cycled the length of Great Britain from John O’Groats to Land’s End. At only 12, he raised an astonishing £3000 for charity for his first cycle across his home country of Scotland. Ever since, Mark has been committed to raising money for charity with every adventure he takes on – he has been able to raise thousands and thousands of pounds. During his first cycle around the world, he was able to raise £18,000 alone.
Soon after he completed his first record-breaking bike ride around the world, Mark set himself a new challenge: Cycling the Americas. This incredible 13,000 mile journey would take him from Anchorage, Alaska, to Ushuaia, Southern Argentina. Mark would complete another World Record breaking adventure as he cycled Africa solo – from Cairo to Cape Town in just over 41 days. Mark has also attempted several daring ocean rowing ventures; rowing the Artic, and attempting to break the Guinness World Record for rowing the mid-Atlantic on ‘Atlantic Odyssey’. With so many impressive feats to his name, it is no wonder that Mark was named the ‘Top Scot’ in 2011, had the honour of being a torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympics, received a BEM for his unwavering services to sport, broadcasting and charity in 2018, and was presented an Honorary Doctorate from Dundee University in 2013.
During his lifetime Mark has accumulated a huge range of experience from travelling in over 100 countries. With seemingly no end to his talent, his travels also made the base for several documentaries and 6 books.
