Marc Gene is an ex-Formula 1 driver best known for being a long-time test driver for Scuderia Ferrari, as well as winning the 2009 LeMans 24 Hours with Peugeot, which cemented his legacy as a top endurance racer. Marc’s career is one of dedication, teamwork and overcoming challenges, showcasing that perseverance pays off, and these are key messages delivered in his keynote speeches.
Marc’s career began in 1992 when he competed in the Formula Ford championship. He then went on to compete in Formula 3, and Formula 3000. In 1996, he won the II Superformula FISA Cup, and in 1998, he won the Open Fortuna by Nissan, achieving six victories and three fastest laps, winning him a direct passport to Formula 1. Marc went on to make his debut with Minardi in 1999 and was the best newcomer of the season. He scored the only point that the Italian team had ever scored, but after very little progression for the future with no technical or economic resources, Sir Frank Williams called him to join the British team as a test driver. He spent 2 years with Williams, and eventually made the move to Ferrari in 2005, still as a test driver where he worked closely with both engineers and drivers. He excelled in this position, playing a crucial role in the development of Ferrari’s dominant cars in the 2000s.
After stepping away from F1, Marc found great success in endurance racing, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009 with Peugeot. He continued to race in the Le Mans Series and World Endurance Championship, competing for teams Audi and Peugeot. He also continues to serve as a Ferrari ambassador and an F1 commentator, actively representing Ferrari at various events and provides expert analysis for Formula 1 races.
Marc’s journey is a testament to dedication and determination, showcasing the power of working in a team, adaptability, innovation and the impact of contributing to collective success over individual achievement.
