Lizzy Yarnold won every major championship in the sport of skeleton in just 407 days between 2013-2015, becoming the first British athlete to retain the Winter Games title and ending her career as the most decorated British Winter Olympian. Lizzy's winning margin of 0.97 seconds was the highest ever winning margin in Skeleton when she achieved the feat at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. She would also secure a Grand Slam of Olympic, European and World Cup titles when she won gold at the 2013-14 World Cup, the Sochi Olympics, the 2015 Bobsleigh and Skeleton European Championships and the 2015 IBSF World Championships.
Due to her incredible performances, she was nominated for the 2014 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, was appointed an OBE for services to sport in 2014, as well as finished third at the 2015 Sky & Sunday Times' Sportswoman of the Year award. In 2018 she successfully retained her Olympic title, winning gold in Pyeongchang to become the first British Winter Olympian to do so. Since retiring shortly after the games, she has acted as a mentor to aspiring athletes in her work with the British Olympic Association.
