Lisa Charlwood-Green is a talented Operations Strategy Manager, who has long shown her advocacy and support of the LGBT+ community. From acting as a Telephone Counsellor for Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline to volunteering for LGBT Youth Scotland, Lisa has made it her mission to ensure that the world is a more inclusive and supportive place for LGBT+ individuals. As the founder of The WOW Network, Lisa is now booked as a speaker for corporate events to share her expertise on topics such as LGBTQ+ inclusion, women in STEM, female inclusion, leadership and working in a male-dominated sector.
Currently, Lisa is the Operations Strategy Manager for Network Rail and Chair of the board for Outspoken Arts and is widely known for her work on organisational change, diversity and inclusion. Lisa also shares her time as the Director of The WOW Network, a network that she founded in order to connect with LGBT+ women in the workplace and provide them with support in coming out at work. The network is entirely led by LGBT+ women, ensuring that a safe haven is created for people coming to the group for support, on a mission to change the statistics and allow LGBT+ women to become their true authentic selves. The WOW Network has joined forces with #Yes She Can, a company driven to inspire, empower and engage with all women in the workplace.
Spending 10 years as the only out LGBT person in her office, Lisa was compelled to help others come out at work who may not feel safe doing so. Lisa has also been the Chair of SQA’s LGBT Network, consulted with the University of Strathclyde on LGBT training and been the Deputy Chair of the award-winning LGBT Network for Network Rail. Armed with the power of influence, Lisa has helped countless individuals to feel safe and accepted within the workplace and stand for the values that they are passionate about. Lisa has also formerly worked as an Organisational Change and Development Practitioner for the Scottish Qualifications Authority, a Business Change Analyst for the University of Strathclyde and a Project Manager for Network Rail.
Claiming awards such as the Aspire Award in Diversity and Inclusion, the 2021 Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the year and being a finalist for ICON of the Year and Community Group of the Year, Lisa is now often booked as a speaker for corporate events to share her advocacy for LGBT, diversity and inclusion.
