An international star, solo artist Lee Ryan is best known as a member of the chart topping R&B and pop boy band Blue. The band, which consisted of Ryan, Duncan James, Antony Costa and Simon Webbe, released their first single in 2001 and by the time they took a hiatus in 2005, had garnered millions of fans, several number ones and platinum albums.
Whilst in Blue, Lee Ryan became known for his powerful vocals and boy-next-door charm, and has remained popular amongst fans around the world. As a solo artist Ryan’s first single, Army of Lovers, peaked at number 3 in the UK, whilst his self-titled debut solo artist album reached no. 6. Lee Ryan gained international acclaim as a music act and his song Real Love was used as the end credits music for the blockbuster animated film Ice Age: the Meltdown, in which Ryan also held a small speaking role. In 2011, following the advice of music legend Sir Elton John, Blue were reunited and began working and touring again. Outside of his work with the music act Ryan continued to pursue independent projects and spent time working in musical theatre as well as appearing on a number of reality television shows, most recently participating in Celebrity Big Brother in 2014.
