Lee Chambers is a psychologist, wellbeing expert and Founder of Essentialise Workplace Wellbeing who became the first black British scientist to become a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences. Combining his wide range of expertise, Lee inspires his audience with his journey from having to re-learn how to walk after his immune system failed to successful business owner. During his invigorating keynote speeches, Lee can expertly advise a company on how to increase their employee productivity and motivation, and speaks on gender equality, wellbeing in the workplace, diversity and inclusion, and menopause in the workplace.
Having been born into a relatively deprived family, Lee was determined to make a name for himself and used education as a tool to do so. In 2007 Lee graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan University with a BS in International Business Psychology. After a sabbatical from education, Lee then graduated from the University of Surrey with a MSc in Environmental Psychology, and gained his certificate in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Management from Edge Hill University. Lee has worked in a variety of roles, owing to his diversity as an individual including as a Service Development Officer for Bolton Council, Job Match Consultant for Inspire To Independence, and a Small Business Consultant for Less But Better.
After losing his ability to walk, Lee became determined to understand how humans can optimise their mind and body which led him down his road to becoming a psychologist. Now, Lee is determined to help employers energise their employees, not drain them, by explaining how well-being can be embedded into strategies. An incredible entrepreneur, Lee has founded three businesses, two of which are still active. Lee is also the Mental Wellbeing Expert for Anytime Fitness UK, Director and co-founder for Wellbeing Lancashire, Psychology Mentor for Migrant Leaders, a Board Trustee for Age Concern Central Lancashire who spends his spare time coaching a disability football team. Highly sought-after to speak to the press, Lee has been interviewed by Vogue, Newsweek and The Guardian, and his work has been published in Healthline, Medical News Today and the BBC.
As a testament to his work within his field, Lee has won numerous awards including the Marie Claire Future Shaper 2022, won the Professional Service Startup of the Year at the National Startup Awards, inducted into the Black Cultural Archines for Services to Business and Health and was featured in the Top 50 BAME Entrepreneurs Under 50 to name a few. Lee is an avid supporter of equal rights in the workplace and has also been named a Man for Gender Balance at the Rising Star Awards. Now also a radio presenter for Ribble FM CIC and regularly featuring at conferences, there is no doubting Lee’s ability to give an insightful and engaging keynote speech. If you are looking for an experienced speaker who can draw on both his psychology background and his passion for equality within the workplace to create an environment where all employees thrive, look no further than Lee Chambers to hire at your next event.
