Katy Ashworth is a household name in the UK for appearing in the BAFTA award winning children’s tv channel CBeebies since 2009. Katy is an Actress, TV Presenter, Singer and qualified Play Therapist, who now dedicates her time to inspirational speaking focusing on engaging with young people to promote positive messages and resilience, as well as drawing on her studies in Play Therapy, speaking passionately on creating connection with children in a manageable way.
Katy’s career began in 2009 when she began her work on CBeebies and hosting the award winning series I Can Cook, as well as appearing in Blue Peter, CBeebies Proms. She has also toured with multiple CBeebies Live! Arena tours, as well as performing for families worldwide at Glastonbury and all the way in South Africa for her one woman comedy shows. Katy’s acting career also extends to the West End, with her appearing in Stig of the Dump and Jack and the Beanstalk. Her time in the CBeebies family came to an end in 2022.
Alongside her work as a performer and tv personality Katy also speaks at Charity and Corporate events. Since leaving CBeebies she has dedicated her time to raising awareness on domestic abuse after experiencing it firsthand. She now speaks candidly on her experience and how to develop resilience in these challenging circumstances, as well as how to support someone else through abuse, and the recovery process after an abusive relationship. She also shares her experience in going through the family courts, and raising her two children alone.
Currently Katy is studying a postgraduate degree in Play Therapy, which she also touches on during her speaking engagements. This topic is specifically aimed at full time working parents similar to her, demonstrating how to create a true connection with children and avoid difficult behaviors whilst parents can also maintain their own energy levels. This advice comes from her experience as a single mum and her knowledge from her studies. She is also an ambassador for Right2Equality and speaks regularly advocating for their latest campaign on judicial bias.
