Katie Chapman is a former English footballer who last played for Chelsea Ladies and England’s women’s national team. Having been described as a ‘physical player’ throughout her sporting career, she was admired for her natural sporting ability whilst playing as a midfielder at many senior teams. With a total of 94 England caps, Katie has gained vast amounts of knowledge throughout her career and is now looking to share this with audiences at speaking events.
At the age of 10, Katie began her professional career at Millwall Lionesses. Developing her skillset within the academy, she made her senior debut for the team in the 1996/97 season. Having showcased her ability in the 1997 FA Women’s Premier League Cup, Katie was awarded the FA Young Player of the Year which allowed her to sign a contract with Fulham. Respected for her achievements, she was able to sign for teams such as Arsenal ladies, Chicago Red Stars and her final senior team, Chelsea Ladies.
Aside from her senior career, Katie was the Under 18 England captain before being selected to be part of the national squad in 2000. After making her international debut in the UEFA Women’s Championship, she began starting games and scored her first international goal in the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualification. As a talented sportswoman, Katie appeared 94 times for the club and was renowned for her achievements before retiring in 2016. Having experienced many highs and lows throughout her career, she is now looking to attend speaking events to share this with interested audiences.
