Kate Usher is a leading Menopause and Gender Equity Consultant, highly sought after by organisations seeking to support and retain their female talent throughout their menopause. With over a decade of experience, she has established herself as a thought leader on the impact of menopause on gender equity in the workplace, relationship dynamics and communication. As such, she has become a go-to advisor for leading institutions, including the IMF, European Investment Bank, Natural History Museum and Charles Stanley. Kate is also a distinguished speaker who eloquently delves into the gender pay gap, menopause for men and female talent retention.
Before establishing herself as an authority on gender equality and menopause, Kate spent two decades as an international project and change manager at FTSE 100 organisations. She began her career in 1989 as an IT Manager at the Electricity Association before joining Unilever as a Project Manager. Following that, Kate became a Project Manager at Tate & Lyle, a leading food and beverage manufacturer. In 1999, she established a private practice in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, returning to the corporate world a few years later to join Rio Tinto as a Project Manager.
In 2009, Kate became a Self-Esteem Coach, spending seven years with Argentum before founding Menopause in Business. Identifying menopause as a major issue that could affect women’s career trajectories, she has spent over ten years raising awareness on the matter. She aims to educate organisations and the women affected whilst establishing modern menopause conversations, helping women to thrive in their chosen careers and attain their professional goals.
Disseminating her industry-leading knowledge of menopause, Kate is the author of Your Second Phase: Reclaiming Work and Relationships During and After Menopause. In recognition of her thought leadership on menopause, her book was shortlisted for the Business Book of the Year award in 2020, and she was named a LinkedIn Top Voice on Gender Equality. In the dynamic business world, organisations suffer when they lose top talent. Kate helps organisations retain their top female talent by identifying barriers within their organisational culture and practices. Now sharing her pioneering knowledge of menopause and gender equity in her speaking engagements, she delivers highly informative presentations.
