Kate Garraway is an instantly recognisable face, have been on our TV screens for over 20 years as a presenter for some of the UK’s biggest broadcasters. She has worked for ITV, Sky and the BBC as well as Smooth Radio. A bestselling author and philanthropist, she has also been awarded an MBE. She started her career as a production journalist on ITV Central before being talent-spotted and named co-presenter of ITV News Meridian. In 1997 she moved to the BBC and was part of the team of presenters that launched BBC News 24. After a year with the BBC, she became a presenter on Sunrise on Sky News. She returned to ITV in 2000 to become co-host of GMTV Today alongside Andrew Castle and later Ben Shephard. She was named entertainment editor of Day Break, the successor to GMTV and took on the role of presenter on an interim basis as well as presenting the Friday edition of Lorraine. In 2014 Daybreak was replaced by Good Morning Britain and Kate became a presenter on the show. She has also presented Too Many Cooks, The Biggest Loser and The National Lottery Draws and has been on several radio stations as a co-host of Weekend Breakfast and host of Smooth’s Mid Mornings with Kate Garraway.
Away from presenting Kate has also appeared on several major TV shows. She competed on the fifth series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, partnering with professional Anton du Beke. The duo made it to week seven on the hit show, finishing eighth overall. In 2019 Kate was on ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and she ended up finishing in fourth place on the show. Her 2021 documentary ‘Kate Garraway: Finding Derek’ won a National Television Award. She is also a bestselling author, having published The Joy of Big Knickers (or learning to love the rest of your life) and The Power of Hope. As well as her career on TV and Radio, Kate is a philanthropist and acts as a Charity Ambassador for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Her extensive media career, alongside her charity work, saw her awarded an MBE in 2022.
