Karis’s career is marked by a passion for social enterprise. While still a student she became the founder of Katchspace, an eco-friendly, modular cardboard furniture company, and supported the endeavours of the Student Action for Refugees as their Publicity Officer. An industrious student, Karis spent her summers working as a Holiday Advisor for TUI and while studying in Vancouver for a year as part of her studies at the University of Edinburgh Business School, Karis became the Head of Marketing for Party Well, where she managed a large team to promote the parties organised by the charity, with all the proceeds going to building wells in underdeveloped communities.
Karis utilised her growing expertise in social enterprise when she became the Head of Social Enterprise Division at the University of Edinburgh Entrepreneurs, where she worked with students to find solutions to some of the problems social enterprises face. Then, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, in 2017, Karis co-founded the Social Stories Club, curating sustainable corporate hampers that promote environmental and social change. With the company going from strength to strength, Karis took her experience launching a successful business, to become an Accelerator Programme Manager at Edinburgh Innovations, where she runs the Startup Summer Accelerator supporting startups with their entrepreneurial journey.
