Sophie Cornish is the multi-award-winning co-founder of Not On The High Street, best-selling co-author of Build A Business From Your Kitchen Table (2012) and Shape Up Your Business (2014), and author of Your Wedding Your Way. She is also Chairman of Busby & Fox, and a former journalist for Hearst Magazines, including Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping. As a speaker, Sophie’s passion for start-ups and thriving in the world of business shines through, sharing her next-level insight on how to achieve goals, standout, and go far.
Sophie’s career began in 1984 as Beauty Writer and Editor for Cosmopolitan, following which she became Creative Brand Manager at No 7 and 17 Cosmetics, and then joined Good Housekeeping as Health and Beauty Editor. In the 90s, she became the owner of her own business, Sophie Vincenzi, where she was a writer and consultant, Account Director at Publicis, and New Business Manager at GGK London. 2000 saw her become a Channel Editor at IPC Media, and six years later, she co-founded Not On The High Street alongside her friend and former colleague, Holly Tucker. More of her roles have included Director at Clay Lane, Doodle Productions, Emma Vowles, Busby & Fox, and Penny Vincenzi. She has also taken on voluntary positions at Cancer Research UK Women of Influence, CrossFit, Surbiton High School, and Cardiomyopathy UK.
Across her incredible career, Sophie has received significant industry recognition, including the Barclays Startups Women In Business Award (2008), BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur Award (2008), Specsavers Everywoman in Retail Entrepreneur of The Year (2009), Media Momentum Woman of the Year (2011), Investor Allstars Entrepreneur of the Year (2012), Lloyds Bank First Women Award (2012), an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) (2013), and appearing among the Evening Standard Progress 1000 Business Brains (2016) and Sunday Times Maserati 100 (2017).

An entertaining and enlightening retail speaker, Sophie provides an insight into a still poorly understood and underutilised sales medium and demonstrates how the internet can allow small businesses to continue to thrive. Outside her work as a retail speaker, Sophie Cornish is a regular contributor to Stylish Magazine, combining her passion for creativity and style with a knack for business management and writers columns about both products and the industry.
