Genelle Guzman-McMillan has an inspirational story to share with audiences at events of all kinds, having been the last person to be rescued from the rubble of the Twin Towers after the 9/11 terrorist attack on The World Trade Center. Working as an Office Administrative Assistant for the Port Authority of New York, Genelle found herself in the north tower of the World Trade Centre on the 11th of September 2001. Now booked as a speaker for all manner of events, Genelle shares her moving story of adversity and how she found courage in a time of crisis.
After being born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Genelle migrated to the United States and began residing there in 2000. After working many small jobs, Genelle landed a position working as an Office Assistant for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey in 2001. Working on the 64th floor of the World Trade Centre north tower, Genelle was set for a normal working day when the plane involved in the terrorist attacks struck the second tower. Witnessing debris and fire falling from the sky, Genelle was instructed to evacuate the tower. Unfortunately, she never made the bottom of the building, with the tower collapsing and leaving her trapped beneath the rubble.
After 27 hours under the rubble, with her head pinned against a concrete block, Genelle was rescued from the debris of the iconic World Trade Centre Twin Towers. Having survived the incredible events of that day, today Genelle shares her story as a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Having lost 14 of her co-workers that day, Genelle visits the memorial fountain to remember the victims and has also acted as a volunteer at the 9/11 Tribute Centre and for the American Red Cross. Since then, Genelle has been the recipient of various awards for her bravery, commended by Senators and Mayors of New York since 2001. She has proudly been the recipient of the Medal of Honour from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, a testament to the bravery and courage she showed in the face of such adversity.
Having recovered after doctors suspected leg amputation and heart complications, Genelle is a fantastic addition to corporate conferences or public speeches to demonstrate the bravery and courage of 9/11 victims. Sharing the story of being trapped beneath the debris for 27 hours, Genelle encourages all to pray, have faith and trust in a higher power when faced with adversity. Having authored the book Angel in The Rubble: The Miraculous Rescue of 9/11’s Last Survivor, Genelle Guzman-McMillan is a true inspiration to all and is guaranteed to have audiences mesmerised with her account of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
