Gail Porter has enjoyed a decorated career in the limelight, having been a television personality on children’s TV, before forging her success as a model in the 1990s. Renowned for presenting shows such as The Big Breakfast, The Movie Chart Show and Fully Booked, Gail has also forged a reputation as a passionate advocate for Alopecia, having personally been diagnosed with Alopecia Totalis. An Ambassador for the Little Princess Trust, Gail raises awareness for the condition by opting to not wear wigs. Now hired as a keynote speaker for events, Gail is a passionate mental health speaker who candidly shares her experiences of depression, anxiety, anorexia, post-natal depression, self-harm and homelessness at events of all kinds.
Renowned for her career as a television presenter, Gail initially had ambitions of being a Blue Peter presenter. Unsuccessful in achieving this ambition, Gail instead went on to be the presenter of The Gadget Show, Disney’s Great Cartoon Chase, Top of the Pops, It’s a Mystery and Gail Porter’s Big 90s. She has also been a guest on shows such as Celebrity Blind Man’s Bluff and Lily Savage’s Blankety Blank, along with The Wright Stuff and What Do Kids Know? Gail has also been the presenter of Gail Porter on Prostitution, and most recently was the narrator of Inside The Zoo and the Presenter of Spooked Scotland. In 1990, she famously made headlines having posed naked for FHM Magazine, photos that were then projected onto the Houses of Parliament – a horrifying incident for Gail that left her with severe mental health issues.
Today, Gail is a passionate mental health advocate, who knows first-hand the mental demands of living in the limelight of a celebrity status. Having been diagnosed with Alopecia back in 2005, Gail has used her reputation as a television personality as a force for good, having also been the subject of Gail Porter Laid Bare, the BBC One life series documentary. She has also released her autobiography Laid Bare: My Story of Love, Fame and Survival, in which she shares her life experiences. Having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and previously detained under the Mental Health Act of 2007, Gail is now hired as a mental health speaker to share her personal experiences with mental health, commended for her ability to resonate with corporate and public audiences alike.
Having also dedicated her time to being the Vice President of The Children’s Trust, a leading charity dedicated to children who have suffered brain injuries, Gail is a committed advocate who is dedicated to making changes in the realms of mental health and wellbeing support. Having experienced homelessness and a divorce, insomnia and anorexia, depression and anxiety, Gail knows many of life’s greatest challenges, and uses her personal experiences to inform her speeches on building resilience, improving workplace wellbeing, creating cultures of kindness, self-belief and facing fears. If you are looking for an emotive mental health speaker, who empowers audiences to be open and honest about mental health, look no further than Gail Porter.

"We were delighted to be joined virtually by Gail Porter for this year's World Mental Health Day. Gail shared her deeply personal story and was incredibly open, frank and honest in sharing her experiences. Her down-to-earth nature and infectious personality completely captured our attention for the entire session. The fact this session was held on Zoom did not reduce its impact at all, but allowed Gail to welcome us all into her home for an hour and have, what felt like, a relaxed conversation between friends. Gail is an engaging, inspirational speaker on the topic of mental health and I would strongly recommend her to others looking for a keynote speaker." - Toni, Global Head of Reward & Wellbeing, Allen & Overy

Gail has a clear mission to help others to be open about the importance of mental health by sharing the ups and downs of her life and career and in particular her experiences of mental health illness.
