Former Samoan professional rugby player Freddie Tuilagi rose to fame in the 1990s and 2000s. Having spent time playing rugby at a number of levels, including international and professional, Freddie knows what it takes to maximise and maintain peak performance.
Born in Samoa, Freddie initially began playing rugby in 1991. He played for Samoa in the 1991 tour to New Zealand. Freddie was also selected to be part of the 1991 Rugby World Cup team for Samoa but unfortunately didn’t play in any of the matches. Later in 1992, Freddie was selected to represent his country once again, joining the Samoan team on the tour of Australia. Three years later in 1995, Freddie was selected once more to join the team in the tour of South Africa.
Freddie’s last venture in his international rugby career was playing for Samoa in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. As part of the Samoa squad, he played in the quarter-final against South Africa. After his final appearance in international rugby, Freddie turned to professional rugby joining the Halifax Rugby League team. With this team Freddie made an impressive 57 Super League appearances within two years, earning the team an amazing 26 tries.
After playing for Halifax rugby, Freddie later joined St Helens in 1999. Freddie appeared in St Helen's victory in the 1999 Super League Final, where he played against the Bradford Bulls. St Helens won the 1999 Championships and subsequently landed themselves a place in the 2000 World Club Challenge. Freddie played a key part in this competition, playing from the interchange bench. As well as those games, Freddie also competed for the team in the 2000 Super League Grand Final playing against Wigan Warriors and claiming another victory.
After being part of St Helens for a period of time, Freddie gained himself the opportunity to play for the Leicester Tigers. He signed for the team in 2000 and went on to help the team reach a number of significant victories. In 2002 Freddie was selected to play in the Heineken Cup, a match that Leicester claimed another victory in. Before retiring, Freddie also played briefly for the Cardiff Blues and the Castres Olympique.
After retiring from rugby, Freddie has gone on to be an agent for a number of players. He was the agent for a number of Samoan rugby players, made possible via his own company Global Bro Sport. As well as playing rugby, Freddie has also lent his talent to American Football. He played for the Leicester Falcons in their 2008 and 2009 season. Given his successful and diverse rugby history, Freddie is able to supply a number of entertaining and inspiring personal anecdotes, perfect for keynote and after-dinner speeches.
