Dzormo Adzekwei is a distinguished former professional footballer, sports administrator and coach, best known internationally for representing the Ghana national women’s team in the 1990s. Nationally, she played for Poscom Ladies FC and Ghatel Ladies FC, winning the Ghana Elite Women’s League title four consecutive times. Drawing from her accomplished playing, coaching and administrative roles, Dzormo shares valuable insights into the sporting industry.
Beginning her professional football career, Dzormo played for Poscom Ladies FC before joining Ghatel Ladies FC and winning the Ghana Elite Women’s League title four consecutive years. During this time, she also represented the Ghana National Women’s Football Team, playing across the United States, Germany, Australia, Costa Rica and Turkey. After retiring from her playing career, Dzormo continued to make her mark in women’s football by founding the Ideal Ladies Football Club in Accra, which competes in the Women’s FA Cup and Women’s Division One League. As CEO of the club, she leads a team of 30 players, 8 officials and nurtures developing athletes. Achieving success as a coach, she served as the team manager of the bronze-winning Ghana U-17 Women’s team at the 2012 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan and was part of the coaching team of Ghana’s Youth Baseball5 team that won the African Championship, qualifying for the 2023 World Cup in Turkey.
As a sports administrator, Dzormo is heavily involved in promoting sports in Ghana. In 2014, she served as the General Secretary of the Ghana Retired National Women Footballers Association, receiving recognition during this time from the Women in Sports Association Ghana for her contributions to women’s football. An award-winning team, Ideal Ladies Football Club finished as runners-up in the league last season. Alongside being part of the planning committee for the annual HAAA Foundation girls' football gala, Dzormo is currently serving as Deputy Programs Officer of the United Nations Association of Ghana.
